Animal Spirit Guides and a Ferret

Meditation has many benefits, one of them is connecting with animals in spirit. I've had many wonderful lessons brought to me throughout my daily sessions, but none so close to my heart as when I am connecting with animals. Why would this touch me more deeply than connecting with people? I'm not sure, maybe I'm just wired differently than some—but, perhaps YOU are too!

Over the past year I have studied animal communication. I was led to do this by the many animals that kept visiting me in meditation. At first, I thought I was seeing so many as I am an author and  they are the subjects of my stories. I would thank them for their visits, journal the sessions and go about my day. After months of this I realized it was much more, it was as if I was being called to speak with animals and share their wisdom. That is when I realized it was beyond a daily meditation of going to my harbor of peace, it was about sharing their wisdom. These animals are spirit guides and they have much to teach. Now after successfully completing my training, I now do this for others professionally (see link below).

By working with so many different animals, I am learning that some speak in symbols, songs, scents, images or sounds. I happily admit I will always be a lifetime student, as each day I learn new lessons. Although I would love to share the many sessions that I now do with animals, I must follow a code of ethics that protects the animal's and human's privacy. And so I will give an example without disclosing identities or details.

Sample session: A person gave me a photo of a Ferret and I am asked if it likes its food and environment. It begins with a meditation and setting the intention for the highest good. Throughout the session, I am shown images of a cave, a closet and a tiny wooden box. I am given a song about money and I am smelling garlic and feeling intense heat. The feedback from the person confirms that the ferret lives in a very small cage in the kitchen near the stove. They feel due to finances they should not have even taken this animal in, as they really do not have the space. Also they add, they resent having spent money on the ferret. After a few sessions, the animal suggested a place that it would be more comfortable and the arrangements were made. At this point an animal spirit guide stepped in, I saw a ram and it spoke of finances. The message was about the money spent on entertainment and cigarettes. You can imagine how difficult this was to convey to the pet's guardian, but with the help of the ram, the language and wording was provided to bring this message to light. So as you can see, a person's questions about food and environment of a ferret, helped them take a closer look and adjust some of their spending habits.

Can anyone do this? Of course, but it takes "commitment to self " to sit in daily meditation. Meditation helps the development of animal communication and many people of all ages are beginning to do this with ease.

Although I enjoy doing this work, I feel I am being guided to teach others. I am currently developing a workshop to teach children as I feel they are the future guardians of our planet. To learn more about the work I do with animal communication, please visit my website.

Southwest Spirits Calling Part 3

...continued from Part 2
GPS is an excellent tool for navigation but we decided to follow something even greater…our intuition. And so hitting the reset button, we tossed out our travel plans and decided to follow our  hearts northward.  Clearly we were meant to be the learners and not the teachers. I had thought the purpose of this trip was to raise awareness in others, it is why I wrote the book about the struggle of the wild horses and burros – it was why I had traveled so far…or was it?

Although mankind feels he has the right to disrupt nature, often it pushes back, like the herd of Bison that halted the traffic in Yellowstone National Park.  Or the spectacular falls that hurdle forward while a rainbow danced upon the surface. It's in those moments when we are reminded that we are but one species on this planet.

My daily meditations continued to bring me heightened awareness and particularly about water. The drought that has come upon the parched land is far reaching and seems to be getting worse.

Meditation:  I see shimmering water that forms an image of a man.  He is bare chested, dark skin, maybe Italian or Mediterranean olive skinned. Something hangs around his neck and he wears a camouflaged large brimmed hat that looks like a ranger hat or Mountie hat. He is comparing the beauty of Colorado and Arizona. He now hands me a slip of paper with something scribbled on it, lastly he signs his name large and I can't make out anything but Arizona and WASTE. It ends.

As I have traveled the country I am astonished by the over-consumption of water for lawns and golf courses in the desert. There is a water crisis yet people continue with recreation and beautification projects that guzzle up gallons every day. Sadly this will continue unless we make changes. During this trip my water meditations brought about a change in my attitude toward my own use of water, the lessons must begin within.

Onward we traveled driving 9 hour days to reach the next watercolor/book signing event. We are good traveling companions, you HAVE to be, and it is another lesson in sharing space, not only the land but our living space. We were attentive to each others needs working as a team as this felt very natural to us. There was a lot of discussion regarding everything we were experiencing yet, we were reminded daily to stop and stand in silence. This silence allowed us to hear the messages brought forth from the earth. Majestic mountains that told us to, "Stand fast in all you believe and reach for the sky ever upwards."  The beauty of the land seemed to encourage us and embrace us pushing us forward saying, "Yes, you are a part of ALL of this."

And where would this journey take us? To the smiling children of the Arapaho/Shoshone Nation who waited eagerly to listen and to learn. With welcome arms they allowed us to share the simple gift of art. Had we not ventured to this middle-of-nowhere land in Wyoming, we would never have met these remarkable Native Americans known as the HORSE PEOPLE. I may have come the teacher but I left the student.

We enjoyed this part of the trip so much we hated to leave, but we had one last stop in Colorado. With an hour to spare we pulled into a cafe, and a good thing too, as an unexpected Tornado dropped in for a visit. Wow! Again nature was in control and all we could do was watch as the sky darkened and all ran for shelter. Would our event be canceled? Slowly we made our way to Zuma's Rescue Ranch thinking we would just say, "hello" and "goodbye" as surely no one would venture out. We were stunned when the students took their seats as if to say, "We are here to learn, we will stand fast and together we will make what we can of this day." We shouldn't have been surprised as this organization is dedicated to helping abused horses and broken children heal.  Looking around the class at the different genders and ages I was reminded that this lesson is for ALL people. No tornado will ever stop the needs of others nor should it stop us from lending a hand.
And so this adventure came to an end as we began our trek home and pondered all we had learned. By following our intuition we found ourselves naturally drawn to helping others. The Southwest Spirits brought us a lifetime of lessons about compassion, listening and assisting wherever we could. By quietly going within we heard them introduce some new voices ...Northern Spirits that said, "Enjoy this for now and savor all you have learned for there are many more roads ahead."

Southwest Spirits Calling Part 2

...continued from Part 1
Nature has a way of making you stop in your tracks. It is a silent reminder that you are but a small piece of the larger picture. When we take the time to immerse ourselves we find that our heart matches the earth's beat. I traveled as a teacher yet all along I was always the student.

As we wandered through the various stops along the book tour it became very clear that the journey was the destination. It was an important revelation as it made us slow our pace and breathe in the beauty. The land was filled with tiny towns sprinkled throughout the desert. Where do they work? Where do they buy their groceries? Do their children become computer whizzes and electronic-game-zombies? I was contemplating this as we pulled into a tiny town called Wickenburg, AZ. I had wanted to see the Saguaro cacti and they only grow in the Sonora dessert. I was overwhelmed with joy as we had arrived during their blooming season. We took some photos and then stopped to visit this quaint town in the middle of giant cacti-land. We found ourselves in a lovely shop that seemed to be the local-hub for catching up on all the news and gossip. We grinned as the clerks smiled and then busied themselves with their morning routine of chatting with their merchant neighbors. The shop was filled with a beautiful collection of gifts including local artisans. I struck up a conversation with the owner and she bought four of my books as this shop was a perfect fit for a book on wild horses.
The state is planning a bypass to run around this tiny town, much like many others that are now empty. It will effect their economy greatly as the tourists will no longer stop. All for the sake of traffic moving even faster through this beautiful terrain filled with such natural treasure. Mankind is always in a rush to get to the next traffic light it seems.

As we resumed our trek across the country I continued daily meditations soaking up all of the wisdom that seemed to intensify like a surging river.

Meditation: I am shown a white feather and I hear "take flight as the feather is the bridge between spirit and physical – together we are one energy – always with you. Keep as a token knowing you are never alone and are connected to spirit – take flight."

The book on the wild horses was given to me by the Calico Horses that once roamed in the Calico Mountains in NV. Many were killed in a brutal winter roundup in 2009, those that were spared found their way to safety at Return to Freedom in Lompoc, CA. They called out to me time and again in meditations that began in 2011. I journaled everyone of those accounts and an outline for my book appeared. Three years later I would publish that book and I would meet the few remaining rescued horses. Read more about them here.

Meeting these animals was as natural as stopping by to visit an old friend. I felt an intense connection and so blessed to stand among them. They are battered, scarred, tangled and resilient. We have so much in common, we share so much and I had never realized it until that moment–we are survivors. A videographer was on hand for the moment as I am in the process of creating a film about their plight and when I was asked how it felt to finally meet them, I was too overtaken with emotions to even speak. Here it was… my big moment and my tears were the only thing captured on film. Tears of joy, gratitude and extreme awe. Soon after that encounter another meditation would find its way to my door.

Meditation: A red tailed hawk is circling overhead and I hear “heightened perspective”

As I continue to record my meditations I can sense that I am being taught more then ever before. Its as if I have been given a new vantage point in which to peer across the earth.  An added bonus is the realization that all of the stress or concern I had about teaching now melts away as I stand before students knowing I am doing exactly what I am called to do at this time. I am not a mere teacher–I am a fellow traveler on this journey called life. Meditation has opened my heart to accept this role.

Meditation helped me write my book and it is how I will move forward on the next project that was also given to me. It began as the spirits of the southwest brought me the following…

Meditation: Lights of energy appeared as I began to see images forming. I heard "February 11." I saw a white horse running. I saw an old fashioned round globe light with the name Aurora on it, I immediately thought of a comic book. I heard someone say, "Well how do you think you got here?" I saw a drawing of my own. It was a comic strip panel and there was a round-up with horses jumping out of the frame. They were escaping the frame of the panel. Some of the panels had borders but now the horses were behind and around them as they had escaped the frame of the story… it ended.

And so I will begin my next project, a new Comic Book series about the wild horses. I will write and draw all I know about the lessons of survival something I have in common with these beautiful yet hardy creatures.

My southwest experience does not end here and I will conclude the recordings of all I have learned in Part 3.

Spirit Horses Sound the Alarm

I live in a world of flip-flops and palm trees – no wild horses. I didn't even know they still existed. But I came to learn about them in the most bizarre way—through daily meditation. I began seeing images of horses running over fields of calico fabric. Vivid patchwork mountains appeared as I flew over them. This continued until one day I saw three horses rendered in my own painting style standing on a hill. Who were these calico-covered horses and why did they appear to me? The final patchwork meditation gave me the answer. I was given a very clear message by these beautiful creatures: “We want you to tell our story”…and so I did.

In researching the novel Calico Horses and the Patchwork Trail , I learned about the plight of the wild horses named after the colorful Calico Mountains located in Nevada. I added many elements to the story from personal experiences, such as when years ago I had to make the tough decision to relocate and uproot my children. As I learned about the mustangs and burros being stripped of their freedom I saw the truth in the powerful statement my three year old told me at the time I moved her from everything she knew: “Nobody asked me.”

This is the story of how Carrie, a girl ripped apart by divorce, helps the wild mustangs torn from the range. Together they face uncertainties brought on by the decisions of others. There is a strong element of magic realism throughout: is she a budding horse whisperer or is her troubled mind playing tricks on her?

In the book Carrie’s dreams are actually taken from my meditation journal. Here is an excerpt from Calico Horses and the Patchwork Trail.

Sunday June 29th:
I had another dream of rolling hills of fabric. It all began with those same lights flickering on sparkling water. Then I was looking down at the patterned lands that were made of patches of varying colors. I felt as if I were flying as I soared overhead. The hills had valleys and I dipped down into them as I looked all around me at the many colors of blue, pink, green, lavender, and gold. Then a black, misty fog covered the hills and all went dark. The darkness slowly became un-foggy as if the sun was beginning to rise. Black hills appeared and three horses were standing on the ridge. They were pawing the ground and I heard them snorting as they swished their tails. They were real horses but they were covered in patches of fabric. As I looked closely I could see that they were each made of the same swatches I had seen on the hills. Three beautiful horses covered in calico fabric. And then I woke.

As a meditation instructor and motivational speaker I encourage readers to move their thoughts into action. I will be offering Equine Water Color Workshops throughout the country, donating my services to help where I can. I hope this book touches the hearts of all who read. May it continue to raise awareness about the plight of all the wild horses and burros struggling for survival.

You're Born...Where's the Instruction Manual?

Did you ever feel as if you are drifting along on auto pilot? You wake up one morning and realize that your actions have become pretty routine. The decisions you made, choices you fabricated and plans you have carried out and continue to carry out were made in the past. Do they reflect the best for your highest good NOW?

As a parent I remember feeling the frustrations of each step. Dealing with the ups and downs of pregnancy, then the birthing, then the teething, diaper rash…later the school years, bullies, tears of their unhappiness with themselves through puberty, college, and on and on. Where were the instructions? Everyone I knew had advice for me. Publishers make millions on how-to books. But did they really know what was best for MY situation? MY home life?

Today I still find times of frustration. Where are the answers? Could we possibly truly have chosen to come here as spirit to take on this physical journey? WE CHOSE HERE?? NOW…EARTH?? REALLY?? What were we thinking!

If in fact I did choose to come here, then how can I become less frustrated in my quest?  The more I remove myself from TV and negative media the more sensitive I become to plants and animals residing beside me. I watch them. I learned through meditation to communicate with minerals, plants and animals. I feel them. So if I can learn to better tune out and tune in then aren't I making a choice as to how I wish to continue my journey? Hey, if I chose to come her then I'm going to try and make it a smoother ride...shouldn't we all?

Meditation can open you to the possibilities that are held within. Wow, is this the instruction manual that didn't come home from the delivery room with us? Maybe. Maybe by setting time aside each day you will begin to unravel the guidance that has been there all along.

Find your instruction manual with meditation. It may come in bits and pieces and you will have to learn how to read the language of your higher self and guides, but you can do it. The information is very personal and is designed for only you.

Channeled Messages Raise Your Vibration

Meditation can connect you with powerful teachers. If you want to develop your spiritual gifts it is an absolute MUST. Yes, there are many wonderful teachers amongst us and if you are not careful you will find yourself going back again and again to sit under their teachings. Meditation will allow you to CONNECT with the lessons designed specifically for you. I am not telling you to stay away from messengers here on earth that want to share some insight regarding your development, after all I myself have been writing this blog as someone with a heart for helping others. But I am only able to find this truth that I write through the commitment to my spirit and it begins with meditation. Meditation raises your vibration allowing you to communicate more freely with your higher-self and guides.

I am in the process of writing a book on Sæ-sii Meditation. Each chapter is channeled and the lessons brought forth have been incredible as my guides work through me.  I am often left speechless when reading the words that come up when I type. When will this book be completed? I believe when they have finished I will be told and I will make copies available through my website calicohorses.com.

Here is an example of how a lesson comes to me. I will be teaching on the heart chakra in my class this coming Monday. I know I am to talk about it but I was not sure where I would begin. I sent this thought out into the universe over the past few days. This is the reply:

Sunday, April 7, 2013: Dream/Meditation: I am with a group of people instructing me. They are showing me parents working on projects with children. The children are young adults. As the parents begin to work with their children I am told that people use this as a buffer. They are guarding their hearts and not communicating from the heart. They are just talking in a round about manner. We as a people continue to mask and bury our true feelings. It is time to release them. If we have hurt someone, write a letter or send them your heartfelt apologies. If someone has hurt you, be honest with your feelings and bring them out to the universe and LET THEM GO. Holding all of this bottled up will only bring us dis-ease. I was brought to a place of semi-conscious and I said a prayer of protection and began a meditation. I was told to teach others the message I was given. Use this information in my writing and my meditation classrooms. If we need to communicate with loved ones or people that have crossed over- then we are to write it out in a letter and send it into the universe through a white candle. I gave thanks to the universe- it ends.

By sending your desires into the universe you are communicating with your higher-self and the guides that walk with you daily. You are LOVE as you are part of all that is connected to SOURCE, IS, GOD, CREATOR or whatever you wish to call it. Use your love energy to empower and encourage others. If you are one of those people that have been guarding your heart then find some quiet time to reflect upon this. LET IT GO and open your heart by releasing what you have kept protected. If you cannot say it then write it. If you cannot send this letter, then burn it into a white candle. White is purity and symbolizes your respect to spirit.

For me I have listened to this message and sat quietly reflecting. To all of my loved ones in spirit I have said all I needed to say before their passing. I speak to them very often in my dreams as I have had many encounters. My dream journals are filled with these loving accounts. To my children? Perhaps I hold back on speaking of the physical abuse I received as a young married woman. I feel it brings nothing positive but perhaps it needs to be shared adult to adult in order for me to release this. I have forgiven the abuser and have dealt with all of this years ago. But perhaps it needs to be brought out into the light. Holding it in a corner of my heart to protect my children who have now all become adults may not be best for my highest good...or theirs.

I am so thankful for channeled messages as it brings me such delight when sharing.   Begin finding your OWN truths and make meditation a routine practice in your daily life. The more you commit yourself to this the more you will LOVE YOURSELF. This can only spread to the world around you that is in desperate need of positive energy. This in turn will raise your vibration and your connection will be open to the possibilities of what lies ahead. Your spiritual gifts are waiting for you. Look within to discover them, and when you do USE THEM!

Spiritual Development Through Meditation

Be careful what you ask of Spirit, you may get an unexpected reply. I say this because I thought I was asking for assistance in developing my spiritual gifts yet what I was given was exactly what I needed physically. Physical health raises vibration…this is where my guides wanted me to begin. A healthy mind, body and spirit will enable you to move along your journey more easily. We all know this, of course, but do we act upon it? Yes, all of this is moving thoughts into action. It takes more than thinking about it we must DO.

If you would like to attune yourself to your higher self and guides for the purpose of discovering your spiritual gifts, then meditation is key. You start by saying your prayer of protection and asking for help from your highest guides and you set your intention. This intention would go something like this, "Please help me during this time of meditation to develop my spiritual gifts." You close your eyes and remain seated in meditation for approximately 30 minutes. It is best to set an appointed time and stick with it. The more you do this the better the connection. If you can only do this once a week, that's great… just start. The more you focus on your development the further along you will be on your journey.

Be sure to journal every experience. If you find yourself rested and peaceful afterward - then date it, write it and continue along your way. In time you will look over your notes and find some remarkable information that may help you in your search for your highest good.

Here are some notes from my journal. Obviously I am being guided to open my third chakra as I am experiencing some difficulties with digestion.

Friday, March 15, 2013: Meditation: I am given a message: Your body is a ball of energy and you have a duty of care to monitor how you are treating it.

Thursday, March 21, 2013 Meditation: I see myself flying over what looks like water, maybe a canal, maybe bogs- I am unsure and just float with it then a bright red box appears on my screen with white block letters SUGAR CANE then I am told to remember to learn the metabolic rate of foods eaten- it ends.

Wednesday, March 27, 2013: Meditation: I was given an image of a silhouette of a human with a glow of bright yellow tinged with green- and then a male voice said "When I look upon your auric field, this is what I see...USE IT!"

By looking back over the journal I can see how clearly I am being guided to focus my attention on the foods I am eating. I bought a stalk of raw sugar cane and I am using it grated into my foods. (You can find these at health food markets-who knew?) I have looked at my protein sources, and being a vegetarian, I tend to rely on soy based foods. Now I am switching to high metabolic foods such as almonds, yogurt, beans and berries to name a few.

By listening to the messages given and FOLLOWING the guidance we can develop our gifts. In this case I need to do this in order to raise my vibration. Metabolism needs to be raised in order to be my "highest good" for myself and the universe. This in itself is spiritual development because my body is not functioning properly. As I am working on raising my metabolic rate, this will help with my digestion thus making my channel stronger.

Begin to listen to the guidance easily and readily available to ALL.  Use meditation to become the very best you can.

Raise Your Vibration Daily

Each day you wake up and slowly recognize thought. Thoughts are living things and as you allow yourself to reconnect with your conscious state you become more aware of your first thoughts. It could be about food, work, family or household chores…but nonetheless you are pulling your energy to a thought. This thought can either raise or lower your vibration. Seeking to raise your vibration will help you to become high enough to connect to the power of intention. Your island of peace and hopefully to your sweet spot where you feel happy about yourself and your surroundings.

If we were to incorporate a daily routine of waking with positive thoughts it would begin our day with a boost of internal energy. After all, we are all energy and we all vibrate on different frequencies why not strive to be your very best?

Here are some ways to help raise your vibration.
1. Become conscious of your thoughts. State your intention for your highest good- "Today is a new day and I am a beautiful person ready to accept what is for my highest good."

2. Make meditation a regular practice. Connection to your higher power and intuition will allow you to rise above all negative thoughts. It does not matter how long- it only matters that you DO.

3. Become aware of the foods you eat. Consuming foods that are covered in pesticides will make you feel weaker. Processed and foods filled with chemicals will actually lower your vibration. Seek to include organic, fruits, vegetables, soy, nut and virgin olive oil to help raise your vibration.

4. Reduce drug and alcohol consumption. Not only does this lower your vibration but you will find yourself surrounded by low vibrational people that enjoy this habit. Limit it or remove it from your life completely.

5. Tune into the music you are listening to. Does it have messages of love, passion, hope, forgiveness? Or are the lyrics filled with anger, hate and resentment. Words are powerful and can contribute to the way you feel about yourself and others. Monitor what seeps into your life, be it the car commute to work or the background radio in your home. Listen to whale song, there is powerful healing in the wisdom being given to us through these incredible beings. Keep it handy for doctor's offices, airport travel, fussy children and anyone dealing with depression.

6. Low vibrational television can derail your good intentions. The constant stream of negative energy is not good for you. Real life dramas with crime, violence and hatred interspersed with commercials telling you to buy a product to bring you health and happiness will lower your vibration.

7. Surround yourself with high vibrational people. Family members and friends that are always speaking with a glass-half-empty attitude can drag you down. Limit time spent with this type of community and connect with high vibrational people that are filled with happiness and joy.

8. Look around your home to see what you have chosen to view everyday. Photographs, books, art, crystals, plants and the colors in your home can all create energy. Learn about Feng Shui today!

9. Incorporate a lifestyle that  includes being OUT in nature as often as you can. This will raise your vibration and put you in touch with a community that is sharing our planet. Learn to listen, smell, see, feel and KNOW the energies that want to share life with you. We share the same natural resources and man is NOT above all life forms. Raising your vibration will make you more aware of the needs of others.

10. Wear or place crystals and minerals in your personal space. Some of these minerals vibrate at a very high frequency. By connecting with their energy your vibration will lift to meet theirs. Some high vibrational crystals are: Kyanite, Rainbow Mayanite, Zincite, Aura Quartz, Gaspeite, Moldavite, Ajoite and Bookite just to name a few.

As your vibration rises you will feel your energy blossom and grow as your light shines brighter. Your feelings of self love, confidence and well being will create a desire to love others and the world around you. You will find yourself doing more and more random acts of kindness. Forgiveness for the people that have caused you deep pain and resentment will drift away as you truly begin to see them as loving spirits on a journey.

Start today with an intention of raising your vibration and BE the loving energy that can help shed more positivity into our world.

Crystal Channeling in a Watercolour

I found myself swimming through an amethyst a few mornings ago. Last week I had asked for some help in discovering which guide was helping me with my art.

Here is my journal entry:
Meditation: I placed an amethyst upon my third eye and began my meditation. I ask for the help of the amethyst in connecting with my higher self. I am now seeing what appears to be a tunnel of shimmering amethyst and I am flowing through it. Shimmering water appears. I see a watercolor I am currently working on. It is of a blue heron against teal water. I am taken into the water as if I am able to dive beneath the surface of this paper- it is still paper yet it is the sea of teal blue.  An Asian man in sunglasses is leaning against a rail. He kind of looks like he is grinning and watching me.  He is painted into the picture but I do not recognize him. The meditation ends. After the meditation I realized I did not paint the man in my watercolour and I have not finished the painting yet. Who was he? Is he who has been helping me paint, surely someone seems to be urging me on...

The artwork you see above is part of a series I have been painting. I am being led to sell my work to benefit wildlife. A seabird sanctuary nearby is unable to continue helping the many shore birds entangled in nets, crippled by boats and jet skis and just harmed by humans out for a good time. I will be in an art show this coming weekend. All profits will go "to the birds." I sincerely hope that I may help raise awareness and donations for this sanctuary. I believe the gentlemen in the meditation is a guide that is helping me. I am thankful to ALL of my guides and the crystals who are assisting me.

Crystals are amazing entities that enjoy lending their energy. Find one that speaks to you and perhaps you'll be led to lend your gifts to encourage harmony within our planet. To find out how to use crystals in meditation please read Crystal Pathways

Have a comment about this blog? I would love to hear your thoughts...

Crystals Speak During Meditation

Crystals are wonderful friends that delight in lending their energy. Our connection with them is as natural as breathing as we are all part of earth...we are all part of IS. We are one.

Using crystals in meditation is particularly beneficial as it allows the stones to lend support as they blend their energy with your own. This blending creates a sort of bond between you. You will begin to notice yourself smiling every time you are near them. When this happens always remember to greet them and THANK them.

During your opening invocation as you begin your meditation, it is always good to set your intention. When working with crystals during meditation I always mention them by name and ask for their help. When closing I offer my thanks. Thanking them bathes them in respect and gratitude. This they will give back to each of you in abundance.

Here is a snippet from a recent meditation journal. As you can see meditation can bring you little road maps to help you along your journey.

Thursday, November 1, Meditation: I asked for a message for my spouse Dean. I asked for his guides to come forward to help me communicate something for his highest good. I also asked for help with his migraines he seems to get from time to time.
A man with white hair in a ponytail stood before me looking down at his sandaled feet- he had blue jeans on and a white shirt- he told me that I need to place Moo-kite under Dean's desk, and next to his feet. I said "you mean marcasite?"  Laughing he replied “I will help you carry it back.”
I asked if there were any more messages. A voice spoke, “He needs to drink more water, cut down on the coffee.” I was about to thank them and the voice said “And you too!”

After finishing the meditation I did a bit of research. I was spelling it phonetically as I was unfamiliar with it. I found what I was looking for. Mookaite is an Australian Jasper which comes from Mooka Creek in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia. I bought several chunks (see photo above large veined rock top left ) and one now sits under his desk and under the foot of his side of the bed. The migraines are becoming fewer. If you want to know more about this stone here is more information. Mookaite.

Sunday, January 27,  Meditation: FULL MOON
While holding Amethyst and Lapis I asked for help in developing my spiritual gifts. I asked for guidance through these tools to help open me for a stronger spiritual connection with my higher self. I was sort of floating in darkness and then I heard my own voice speaking over and over saying "Mie-a-night, Mie-a-night, Mie-a-night...I said "Huh, you mean like the myans? This kind of threw me and I reply "No, I'm asking about this Lapis and Amethyst. Can you please help me align with their energy to help me learn? Please teach me." Again "Mie-a-night, Mie-a-night, Mie-a-night," repeats and this time it is louder – also there is a bit of chuckling and laughter.  I thanked my guides and crystals and started to hunt for Mieanight.
Again I was spelling it incorrectly and couldn't find it. Then later during a walk I remembered myself saying "Like the Mayans?" Sure enough I found it. Mayanite. I had never heard of this stone and the fact that it was given to me during meditation when I asked for help with my development assured me it was the answer to all I was seeking. I purchased a piece (pictured above it is the gold colored crystal) and I now sit in meditation with it. A remarkable stone to be sure. If you want to know more about this amazing quartz that has only recently been discovered here is some information. Mayanite

Connecting with the beautiful energies of crystals will raise your vibration. When this occurs you will find yourself drawn to nature. Begin using crystals today and listen to what they have to say. They are quite powerful, insightful and extremely loving. Keep them near you, wear them and take them along as you walk this earth. They will reward you with an incredible blessing and when they do – always remember to give them the thanks they so richly deserve.

The Whispering Heirloom

So did I tell you my mom – who passed in 2010 – has made contact with me? Wow, she came during a meditation. Let's just say I was a bit freaked yet very thrilled. It has left me with a better understanding of the immeasurable possibilities of my daily 15 minutes of silence.
When I began the process of Sæ-sii meditation, I have to admit, I never thought it would reveal such wonders. I thought I would just be a calmer person with less stress. Boy was I in for a surprise.

I'm currently in the process of taking my mother's embroidered tablecloth, the one I used to actually have a table for, and turning it into a bed cover.  She has created beautiful works of art with embroidery and for years they have sat in a cedar chest. That was until she visited me and I learned she watches over me...literally she tells me in detail about all she sees now. I can't help but show her my appreciation and love...because that is what this connection is LOVE ENERGY.

Thinking on this makes me appreciate when I was a beginning student. I listened and recorded the instructions but never really understood the reasons of the opening prayer. Now years later I have experienced first-hand the results of forgetting to ask for protection. The negative entities encountered were my wake up call as they filled me with the creeps. To read about this experience see Meditation Police. You learn pretty quickly you need protection when opening yourself up to the spirit world.

I always begin my meditation in prayer. I approach this time in reverence and respect to spirit. I usually set my intention and ask to blend with my conscious and to be at one with my spirit. What happens after this can render me speechless and often my journals seem fractured as I cannot find the words to describe the experience. Let me give you an example.

My 93 year old Aunt Blanche crossed over this past August. We were very close and I was fortunate to be able to visit and say "see you later," before she passed. She was my dad's sister and a good friend to my mother.
Here is a journal entry shortly after she passed.

Monday, August 20, 2012: This is a strange night. I place amethyst under my pillow. I am restless and unable to sleep  and so I begin a meditation.
Meditation: Images begin appearing and I realize I am seeing visions very, very clear. They are black and white photos of my mom in her youth. She is beautiful- wearing hats and long skirts- I then see many images of a familiar blonde woman and I think it’s me dressed in vintage clothes but then I realize it's Aunt Blanche and I smile to myself. The images become animated and they are posing in skirts, dresses, seamed stockings, 1940's styled shoes. They throw their heads back in laughter and I feel my heart race as I am caught up in their excitement. I feel myself grinning and holding my breath as I don't want to lose the images. They come fast and fly in and fly off the screen—as I am watching the images I am aware that someone is getting into bed behind me. I am lying facing away from my bedroom door and the spirit climbs into bed beside me and I feel the weight shift- it is female. I know my spouse is in bed asleep and I am not afraid-it feels like a blanket more than a body as it comes from behind and holds me- It then rocks me a little I know instantly that it is going to speak to me- I am watching mom’s photos and I hear a whisper very loud "LORRAINE" - I say aloud "MOM?"
The spirit shakes its head in acknowledgement and gives me one more quick hug and rocks me with a tight embrace and then vanishes and the imagery disappears as well. I say a blessing of thanks and then move closer to my spouse just to touch him and feel the difference of spirit and physical. I am NOT afraid. I stay where I am thinking about this.  Was this mom? I know it was female and I quickly think back to the tiny rocking hug- it felt like mom's hug! That's exactly how she would finish a hug...a little rock at the end...this was her signature:) I then remember how I felt when she whispered my name- it wasn’t a voice it was more like rushing wind saying my name—as it was happening I remember telling myself spirit sometime cannot speak clearly for many reasons- my development may not be ready to hear- their ability to speak to a vibration lower than theirs – but I remember not being afraid and knowing it was coming. I then said a prayer to my highest guides and helpers and made my intentions very clear. As my protectors and guides I was making it known to the universe that I did not want TOUCHING to be a part of my medium skills unless it was my parents and loved ones- no one has permission to get in my bed and hold me and hug me unless they have my permission.

Meditation can often be in total blank silence. It may come with brilliant lights and it can come with thoughts or even words spoken. No matter what this is a personal journey and no two are alike.
As I teach meditation I always try to remind students that there are NO BLUE RIBBONS, you are not in a race, you are not less or better than anyone. Each of us has spiritual gifts and meditation can help you discover them. Not everyone will be visited by loved ones but then again you may discover something quite marvelous about your OWN gifts.

Why not begin daily meditation today? You may find treasures that you've kept hidden. Approach it with respect and love and record every detail. This process will help you to see, hear and feel the mysteries of meditation. I know my mother is enjoying watching my journey and I can't help wonder if her nudging me to sew this coverlet is her way of being just a little bit closer.

Meditation Mojo

Why would anyone want to sit in silence and think of NOTHING?Meditate. meditate |ˈmedəˌtāt|
verb [ intrans. ]
focus one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation.  (Oxford Dictionary)
As I am beginning to look for a desirable location to teach meditation in my community, I am realizing that some people have some preconceived ideas about what exactly they will learn.

There are many forms that have different titles and if you do a search you will find various methods. I teach Sæ-sii meditation. It is not religious and does not require any belief system other than the fact that you desire to "let go" of all thought. Thought is a living thing and if you hold on to it you cannot be sure if the garden you have just imagined is in fact a spiritual journey or your imagination. I do not wish to place any ill thoughts toward other methods in stating this, it is a matter for you to choose what works for you.

Meditation can be achieved in many ways and in teaching this I respect that chanting or sitting in a certain position may be something that others find valuable. I teach a method that requires no music, no guided audio or instructor and no visionary cues. Why do I choose this method? Because I can go to my inner harbor of peace...and that is exactly where I go... at any given time. I can go while I sit in an airport and someone is talking non-stop on their cell phone. I can go when I am waiting in a doctor's office or sitting under a hairdryer at a salon while a television spouting non-stop negativity is placed before me. How? Because I have learned to switch off my mind without the need of any aids or devices or special seating posture.

How often should you meditate and for how long?
When I first embarked upon this I was exploring different techniques and I was meditating at least an hour a day and honestly I often just fell asleep. I tried videos, candles, music and read books and I began to feel nothing but frustration. Why couldn't I have these "magical" experiences...what was wrong with me? That's when I realized I needed to stop everything I was doing. All of this reading, watching, listening was just making my mind more active with the very thing I was trying to let go of... THOUGHT.
Now I sit in total silence in a comfortable position in the same room every day at approximately the same time for no longer than 15 mins. I say a prayer for protection (for step by step details see link below), I set my intention and then I allow my mind to come to complete rest. If anything floats in and I begin to give it attention than I am NOT meditating I am thinking, and so I will pull away from it and say "later...scoot" and then I just rest comfortably. When I first started doing this it was for mere seconds...than a minute...now it is 15. By doing this you are disconnecting to the chattering input of your brain and allowing your higher conscious to communicate with you. You may not even be aware of it, and that is the beauty of it. Your realization will come at other moments in your day when you are inspired and are able to move with confidence knowing your actions are purposeful and lead to a higher good for you and others.

All of my teaching centers upon how to move thought into action by NOT THINKING. Sounds bizarre huh? Well actually it is a process that takes time but once you begin to "let go" of all thought you will be able to open the door to your subconscious. I cannot describe what that will be like for you, as each of us is unique. Your experiences will be vastly different from mine as they will be from others you may encounter.

It is what YOU experience and what you learn from YOUR higher self that will give you the greatest joy. Meditation allows you to strip away the layers of day to day activity and have a connection to someone that loves you beyond measure...yourself and of course the guides that walk with you daily.
I hope to open my meditation studio very soon. The goal is to help others move their thoughts into action by the vehicle of their beautiful SELF guidance. They will be meditating in their own space at their own time and they will not need a group. The instruction will be giving them the confidence to make this effort to apply this to their daily walk as it will help them to move with their passion of purpose.

Update: This was written in 2012. I now meditate twice daily for 15 minutes. Everyone has a time that works best for them, mine is at dawn and around 3pm. I have taught many workshops and I have written a book on meditation that will be published very soon. Meditation brings self-love that spreads world wide, I am ever the student of this magnificent ALL THAT IS.

Clairaudience and the Talking Osprey

As I wake to the cries of the Osprey living outside my balcony I am moved by it's alluring beauty. I am fixated by its hunting skills as he glides past me carrying breakfast dripping from his talons. I sip my coffee and after a light meal I lace up my sneakers still hearing his loud chirping cries. I begin my morning exercise as the Osprey flies overhead appearing to be joining me stopping to perch on tall trees and buildings.
I cross the bridge and gaze into the water looking for the dolphins that sometimes entertain me with their dazzling leaps and somersaults. I continue on my way listening to my headphones with the volume turned up high to hear above the noisy traffic. A squawking bird is making so much clatter it breaks my concentration so I switch to pause mode looking up to see who is making all the fuss. I shouldn't be surprised to find it's the large white Osprey landing on the light pole above me. I send it loving thoughts and tell it how beautiful it is. It begins to preen and I move on down the walkway. I continue my journey meeting the various shore birds along my way. There are spoonbills, egrets, herons, pelicans and many more that I haven't identified as yet. I circle back to climb up and over the bridge and two rays are gliding along splashing the surface. Surrounded by such beauty of nature effects me and I can feel my heart swell. My footsteps seem to float as I think about all of the life that has revealed itself to me. Are they just as moved to meet me? I return home to find the Osprey sitting on a branch near my front door. I stare dumbfounded as it wobbles it's head back and forth... is it waving to me? I shake my head and try to ignore this bird who seems to be contacting me.

In the mid-afternoon I take a break and step out onto the balcony as two of them now circle overhead swooping near me as they call out in passing. I spend the rest of my day working in my office and occasionally glance towards the beautiful Clearwater Bay. My windows are palm tree level and as the birds cross my vision I find myself daydreaming and not getting much work accomplished….

Now it is sunset and I am relaxing on the balcony watching the sailboats and tourists sipping cocktails on their chartered cruises. All is peaceful as I sink back into my chair. I breath in the salt air and something catches my eye and I look a little closer - yes it's an Osprey perched like a sentinel on the corner of a building nearby. I close my eyes and thank him for this precious gift of friendship. He sends me back his calm reply, "I have always been here."

It is in these moments that I am moved to meditation. I want to open myself to the wonders that have been beside me all of my life. Who are these guides…and why have they appeared in my journey …or have I appeared in theirs? Perhaps we are here for each other. I often hear messages during meditation and at first it was unsettling. Now I understand this gift and I am able to move past the voice to hear the message. I am being called to look closer at my surroundings. The Osprey is helping me open my vision to the needs of others.

Here is the  osprey cry   I am doing more research on Osprey Totems as I truly feel they are here for a purpose...have you made contacts with your guides?
If not then try meditation and set your intent on meeting them. It is one of the best ways to start. To learn how you can do this simple self-connection please read How to Meditate.
